Hockey Travel Hacks: My Pro Road Routine

Years of junior, college, and professional hockey taught me that travel can quietly wreck sleep, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and recovery. This is a living list of the simple road habits and products that have helped me stay ready.
Before the Trip
• Pack recovery essentials before equipment takes over the bag.
• Bring simple food and hydration options you know you tolerate.
• Download anything you need for travel so poor service does not derail the plan.
On the Road
• Keep water available and prioritize whole-food meals when possible.
• Use short movement and mobility breaks instead of waiting until stiffness builds.
• Protect sleep with a consistent wind-down routine.
Hotel Setup
• Make the room dark, cool, and quiet.
• Keep a simple morning light and movement routine.
• Set out training and recovery gear the night before.
Game-Day Travel
• Keep pregame food familiar.
• Use breathwork and light movement to shift out of travel mode.
• Recover after the game before defaulting to screens and late-night food.
